Samir Chatterjee is a virtuoso tabla player of the Farrukhabad gharana and the Founder-Director of Chhandayan, an organisation dedicated to promoting Indian music and culture. A faculty member at the Manhattan School of Music, he has accompanied legends including Pt. Ravi Shankar, Ud. Vilayat Khan, and Pt. Bhimsen Joshi.
2026 Tabla & Rhythm Ashram at Shanti Mandir
Three-day Tabla & Rhythm Ashram (July 3-5) at Shanti Mandir in Walden, NY, conducted by tabla maestro Samir Chatterjee for students of tabla and Indian rhythm, with evening recitals.
Every year, Chhandayan offers a series of immersive workshops designed to enhance the study and practice of Indian music. These workshops, which we call Ashrams, are intensive in nature. They include supervised practice sessions and address many aspects of music that cannot always be explored in regular classroom settings.
