About this concert
The Saami Brothers, hereditary musicians of the Qawwal Bacha Delhi Gharana founded by the 13th-century poet-mystic Amir Khusrau, bring traditional Sufi qawwali to the Church of the Epiphany in downtown Washington, DC. Their sets build through hypnotic rhythm, soaring vocal improvisation and ecstatic call-and-response toward wajd, the transcendent state qawwali has sought for nearly 800 years. Presented by District of Raga and The Center For Cultural Vibrancy; doors 6:30pm, concert 7pm.
