Saami Brothers

The Saami Brothers — Rauf Saami, Urooj Saami, Ahmed Saami, and Azeem Saami — are a critically acclaimed qawwali ensemble from Pakistan. They received rigorous training in Eastern classical genres from their father, the revered Ustad Naseeruddin Saami, and other family elders including the late Ustad Munshi Raziuddin Khan and Ustad Nizamuddin Saami. The brothers belong to the Qawwal Bacha Delhi Gharana, a tradition founded approximately 800 years ago by Saamat Bin Ibrahim, a principal student of Hazrat Amir Khusrau. Their maternal grandfather, Munshi Raziuddin Qawal, was an internationally renowned performer. The Saami Brothers, along with their father, represent the last living practitioners of a rarely heard 49-note microtonal vocal scale. Well-versed in qawwali and khayal, the brothers have performed internationally to critical acclaim. In 2025, they were celebrated as winners of the Aga Khan Music Awards.
