Jyoti Prakash

Jyoti Prakash is an accomplished tabla artist and a prominent disciple of tabla maestro Pt. Abhijit Banerjee, belonging to the Farrukhabad gharana tradition. He started learning tabla at a very early age from his father Sri Nagendranath, and later trained with Pt. Brojen Biswas and Sri Sumantra Guha before coming under the tutelage of Pt. Abhijit Banerjee.

Based in Southern California, Jyoti Prakash teaches at Dhwani Academy of Percussion Music across Los Angeles, Irvine, Riverside, and San Diego. He has accompanied various internationally acclaimed musicians including Ustad Shahid Parvez on sitar, Vidushi Girija Devi, Pt. Jasraj, and Vidushi Purnima Chowdhury. He has performed extensively in India and the United States and is a featured artist on All India Radio and Television.
