Dr. Meeta Pandit is a leading Hindustani vocalist and foremost exponent of the Gwalior gharana, sixth in an unbroken hereditary lineage. She is the granddaughter and disciple of Padma Bhushan Pt. Krishnarao Shankar Pandit, the doyen of the Gwalior gharana, and daughter of Pt. Laxman Krishnarao Pandit. Beginning training at age three, she earned a PhD in Hindustani Classical music by 27 and authored Pandits of Gwalior (2018). A versatile artist with a three-octave range, she sings khayal, tappa, thumri, and Sufi forms and has performed in over 25 countries. She is the first woman in her family to pursue music professionally and has received numerous awards including the Sangeet Natak Akademi's Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar.
