Biography

Jnan Prakash Ghosh (8 May 1909 – 18 February 1997) was an Indian harmonium and tabla player from the Farukhabad gharana of Hindustani classical music, as well as a musicologist. A renowned guru, he taught many musicians, including vocalists Ajoy Chakrabarty and Arun Bhaduri, and tabla players Anindo Chatterjee and Shankar Ghosh. He was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship in 1974 and the Padma Bhushan in 1984.
