Biography

Harshad Kanetkar is a tabla maestro from India, celebrated as a soloist and accompanist in Hindustani classical music. He began learning vocals from his grandfather Shrikrishna Kanetkar and mother Roopali Kanetkar at age three, and started tabla at five. After initial training under Mr. Mukhade, he studied for many years with Pandit Ramdas Palsule and Taalyogi Pandit Suresh Talwalkar. In 1998, he received the National Scholarship Award from the Government of India. He has performed at prestigious festivals including Sawai Gandharva Mahotsav and Harvallabh Sangeet Samaroh, and served as visiting faculty at Pune University and percussion director at the Pandit Jasraj School of Music in Atlanta. In 2023, he was selected as a voting member of the Recording Academy for the Grammy Awards. He currently runs a tabla school in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas.
