The Columbia University chapter of SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth). SPIC MACAY was born at Columbia in 1972 when founder Dr. Kiran Seth attended a life-changing Dhrupad concert by Ustad Nasir Aminuddin Dagar at Brooklyn Academy of Music. The movement now has chapters in 8,000+ locations worldwide. The Columbia chapter organizes concerts, workshops, and cultural events for the university community, continuing the legacy of where SPIC MACAY's vision first crystallized.
