Bijayini Satpathy
View ProfileBijayini Satpathy is an Odissi soloist and choreographer who began training at age seven in Bhubaneswar and spent 25 years at Nrityagram, from 1993 to 2018, as principal dancer, teacher, researcher and director of dance training. Nrityagram founder Protima Gauri selected her in 1993, and she toured worldwide with the Nrityagram Dance Ensemble alongside Surupa Sen. She has performed as a soloist since 2018. Her honours include a Bessie Award in 2020 and a Dance Magazine Award in 2023.

About this concert
Mitr pairs Odissi and Kuchipudi, two classical traditions from the neighboring Indian states of Orissa and Andhra Pradesh, in a program conceptualised and choreographed by Bijayini Satpathy. Presented as CROSSINGS by Global Indian Artist in collaboration with MITHAS and Kanakavalli at MIT's Thomas Tull Concert Hall.
