Biography

Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar was a Hindustani classical singer who is credited with bringing classical music to the masses and founding the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, the first music school open to the public. He is also known for singing the original version of the bhajan 'Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram' and arranging India's national song, 'Vande Mataram', as it is heard today.
