Vijay Natesan

Vijay Natesan is a Chennai-based mridangam virtuoso in the Carnatic tradition, born in 1981, who began performing at age seven. A Top Grade Artist of All India Radio (since 2019) and among the youngest mridangists to receive this distinction, he holds a Ministry of Culture (India) fellowship for research in mridangam. He trained primarily under T.S. Nandakumar, an A Grade AIR artist, and subsequently received advanced instruction from Padma Bhushan Sangita Kalanidhi T.V. Gopalakrishnan. He is an Asthana Vidwan at Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham and has performed internationally in the USA, UK, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Malaysia, and Singapore.
