Vidya Kalyanaraman

Vidya Kalyanaraman is a Carnatic vocalist known for her robust voice and strict adherence to the grammar and idiom of Carnatic music. She started learning music from Padma Sandilyan at the age of six, and after approximately ten years of initial training, began advanced lessons under Guru Suguna Varadachari in 2005. She was featured as one of the "Gen-Next Carnatic Stars" by The News Minute in 2015. Vidya holds an M.Phil degree and has described her guru Suguna Varadachari as "a pillar of support at every stage of my life since 2005." She is a firm believer that one must strictly adhere to core Carnatic values without compromise.
