Imdadkhani
Vatsal Dave is a Dallas-based sitarist devoted to North Indian classical music in the Imdadkhani gharana, known for its gayaki ang (vocal-style) approach emphasizing melodic expression and emotional depth. His musical journey began with Ghulam Rasul Khan, an All India Radio artist, and continued under Pandit Budhaditya Mukherjee, a Padma Bhushan awardee, first at the Rotterdam World Music Conservatory in Holland and later through ongoing visits to Kolkata, spanning over 25 years. An international performer and dedicated teacher, he has developed an English-friendly notation system for the sitar and authored Sitar 101: Introduction to Indian Classical Sitar. His albums include Lone Star Sitar, Himalayan Sunrise, and Immortal Beloved.
