Biography
Venkateswaran Dakshinamoorthy (1919–2013), known as "Swami," was a Carnatic-rooted music director who pioneered classical music-based songs in Malayalam and Tamil cinema. He composed over 125 films and 1400 songs across 63 years. A disciple of Venkatachalam Potti, he mentored P. Leela and K. J. Yesudas.
