Ustad Qasim (born Qasem Jo) was a highly influential Afghan musician, composer, and singer of the 20th century. Often called the "Father of Afghan Music," he is credited with creating a unique style by blending classical Indian music with Afghan folklore. He served as a court musician to several Afghan rulers and his compositions include the national anthem of Afghanistan used from 1992 to 2006.
