Biography

Tulsidas Borkar was born in Borim, Goa, on November 18, 1934. He received his initial music lessons from his mother, Jaishree Borkar, and later learned harmonium from Vishnupant Vashta. The major part of his harmonium training from 1957 to 1967 was under Pandit Madhukar Pendnekar. He initially gained recognition as an organ player in Marathi theatrical music. He performed both as a harmonium accompanist and as a soloist. Borkar identified Kedar Naphade as one of his students. He died on September 29, 2018.
