Biography

Umakant and Ramakant Gundecha became celebrated Hindustani dhrupad vocalists of the Dagar vani tradition after training under Ustad Zia Fariduddin Dagar at the Dhrupad Kendra in Bhopal. Recipients of the Padma Shri in 2012, they performed across 25+ countries and founded the Gurukul Dhrupad Sansthan to preserve the guru-shishya tradition. Ramakant Gundecha died in November 2019, and Umakant Gundecha now performs with Ramakant's son, Anant Gundecha.
