Biography

Tiruvidamarudur Ramaswamy Mahalingam, known as Mali, was a flautist who revolutionised Carnatic flute-playing. He introduced a new fingering technique and redesigned flute enabling gamakas that better imitate the human voice. His eccentric genius made him a legendary and enigmatic figure in Carnatic music.
