Sunil R. Gargyan, a prominent Carnatic vocalist, began his musical journey at the tender age of three. His initial training was under the guidance of Shri S. Bashyam, followed by tutelage from Shri P.B. Shrirangachari. A significant phase of his learning was as a disciple of the illustrious Padmabhushan awardee and Sangeetha Kala Acharya, Shri P.S. Narayanaswamy, firmly establishing him in the esteemed P.S. Narayanaswamy parampara. Since 2021, he has continued to refine his art under the guidance of Vidwan Shri Sriram Parasuram.
Throughout his career, Gargyan has achieved significant milestones, including being recognized as an "A" Grade artist by All India Radio, Chennai, in 2019. He has graced many prestigious stages across India and has undertaken successful concert tours in the USA and Canada. His performances at the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana Festival in 2018 and 2019 were widely acclaimed. In 2016, he released his debut album, 'Padmanabha Prabhavam,' featuring compositions of Maharaja Swathi Thirunal.
A recipient of numerous accolades, Sunil Gargyan's talent has been consistently recognized by leading cultural institutions. Among his many honors are the 'Yuva Kala Bharathi' from Bharat Kalachar (2019), the 'Isai Chudar' from Karthik Fine Arts (2018), and multiple awards from the prestigious Music Academy, Madras, including 'Outstanding Vocalist' (2023) and the 'Best Pallavi Award' (2019). He also received the coveted "The Hindu Sa Re Ga Ma M. S. Subbulakshmi Award" in 2014 and the "Bharat Ratna M. S. Subbulakshmi Fellowship" from Shanmukhananadha Sabha, Mumbai.
