Biography

Srivani Jade is an Indian Classical Vocalist, composer and educator of the Kirana gharana. Introduced to music at age four by her father Bhavani Prasad Jade and uncle Raghavendra Tilwalli, she studied Khayal with Dr. Sharad Gadre in the Gwalior style and with Pandit Parameshwar Hegde in the Kirana style. She debuted at Ragamala's Utsav festival (Seattle, 2008) and the Devanandan Ubhayaker Yuva Sangeet Utsav (Bengaluru, 2009). She represents the Dharwad-Kirana gharana and identifies deeply with Khayal, Thumri, and Bhakti traditions, composing both classical and devotional music inspired by Meera and Kabir. She serves as President of Ragamala, a 501(c)(3) promoting Indian Classical Music in Greater Seattle, and as Visiting Artist with the University of Washington School of Music's Ethnomusicology program.
