Spoorthi Rao

Spoorthi Rao, a rising star in Carnatic music, began her musical journey at a very young age. Her initial training in light music was under the guidance of Narahari Dixit, and she delved into the intricacies of Carnatic music with Yashasvi Subbarao. For the past decade, she has been under the tutelage of the renowned Ranjani-Gayatri duo, further honing her skills and deepening her understanding of the art form. This strong foundation in both light and classical music has shaped her into a versatile and compelling vocalist.

Rao's career is marked by a series of impressive achievements. She gained widespread recognition as the winner of the popular reality show 'Super Singer Junior 4' in 2015. Her formal debut as a solo Carnatic performer was in 2019 at the RR Sabha in Chennai. Since then, she has graced prestigious stages across India and the globe, including the Bharat Sangeet Utsav, the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, and international festivals like the Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival and the Malaysia International Carnatic Music Festival. Her successful maiden U.S. tour in 2023, with over 15 full-house concerts, further solidified her position as a promising young artist.

Spoorthi Rao is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Kempegowda State Civilian Award from the Government of Karnataka in 2015 and the 'Yuva Kala Bharathi' from Bharat Kalachar. She has also been honored with the Best Musician Award from the Music Academy Madras and the Raga Laya Prabha Award from Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira. Alongside her flourishing music career, she is pursuing a degree in Electronics and Communication engineering and performs with her fusion band, Viprahar, showcasing her versatility and passion for exploring different musical avenues.
