Biography

Snehesh Nag is a sitar player, composer, and educator practicing Hindustani classical and cross-genre music. Trained by his father Pandit Sugato Nag and sarod legend Pandit Buddhadev Dasgupta, he plays a unique blend of primarily two gharanas: the Senia Shahjahanpur and Enayatkhani gharana. He currently also learns from sarod maestro Pandit Prattyush Banerjee, an exponent of the Senia Shahjahanpur gharana, and has previously studied tabla under Farrukhabad gharana exponent Pandit Tanmoy Bose and vocal from Shri Sandip Nag. Snehesh has performed extensively in India, the US, Australia, and Canada, and is the recipient of multiple accolades including the National Scholarship from the Government of India and the Acharya Allauddin Khan Memorial Award. He graduated with an MS in Music Technology from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2020 and frequently explores the intersection of sitar and technology. As an educator, he has worked with the Baltimore Symphony's OrchKids program and conducted workshops at Strathmore and Silkroad's Global Musicians Workshop.
