Indranil Mallick

Indranil Mallick is a leading tabla player of the Lucknow gharana, known for combining talent, virtuosity, and youthful dynamism. He began his tabla journey at the age of five under the guidance of his uncle, Sri Montu Mallick, and later trained with Professor Dhabol Bandyopadhyay and Sri Uttam Chakraborty. He is currently a disciple of the living legend Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri.

Indranil is a grade A artist of All India Radio, Kolkata, where he is featured regularly on programs aired throughout India. He was the first tabla player to receive the prestigious Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Award in 2015. Beyond classical music, Indranil has found success in cross-over collaborations with Western musicians, including projects with the Miles Davis Electric Band. He currently teaches Hindustani classical music at the Chhandayan Center for Indian Music in New York.
