RaGa Sisters, Ranjani and Gayatri Balasubramanian, are among the foremost Carnatic vocalists of their generation. Born into a deeply musical Tamil family, they received initial vocal training from their mother Meenakshi Balasubramanian and violin training under Prof. T. S. Krishnaswami at the Shanmukhananda Sangeet Vidyalaya, Mumbai. They became disciples of Padma Bhushan Sangeeta Kala Acharya P. S. Narayanaswamy in 1997 and have given vocal concerts worldwide since then. Also accomplished violinists, they have appeared as soloists, accompanists, composers, and educators. Their innovative concept concerts 'Raaja by RaGa' and 'RaSa by RaGa' have attracted first-time listeners to Indian classical music globally. They have performed at prestigious venues including Kennedy Centre (Washington DC), Southbank Centre (London), Barbican Hall, Bengal Music Festival (Dhaka), and Esplanade (Singapore).
