Biography

Pudukottai Manpoondia Pillai was a Carnatic musician known for the kanjira, also called ganjira. He designed the ganjira and established the Pudukottai school of percussion. He trained under Tirugokarnam Mariappa Pillai, a tavil vidwan. Pudukottai Dakshinamurthy Pillai was among his students.
