Prasad Khaparde

Prasad Khaparde is a Hindustani classical vocalist of international repute from the small village of Ghatanji in the Yavatmal district of Maharashtra. Born in 1973, he began his musical training in the Gwalior Gharana under Shri Bhalerao guruji, Lt. Pandit D.V. Panke, and Lt. Pandita Sumantai Choudhari. He went on to become a senior disciple of Ustad Rashid Khan at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy in Kolkata, absorbing the rich tradition of the Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana. He holds a Master's degree in Indian classical vocal music and is recognized as an All India Radio A-grade artist and an empanelled artist with the ICCR in New Delhi. With a career spanning more than 30 years and performances at major festivals across India and abroad, he has also sung for the Marathi film "Thaang" by director Amol Palekar. He currently teaches at the Kala Academy in Goa.
