Partha Bose

Pandit Partha Bose (born January 21, 1959) is a world-renowned sitar maestro and one of the leading sitar exponents in India today. Born into a family of industrialists in Kolkata, he was initiated to the sitar at age six and underwent intensive training in the truest traditions of Guru-Shishya Parampara under Pandit Monoj Shankar of the Maihar Gharana, who trained him for 53 years until his passing in 2021. Bose has developed a distinct style rooted in tradition, reflecting an imaginative synthesis of Rabab-ang Bols, Khayal-ang Vistar, and Taankari. First featured on Akashvani at age 11, he has since performed to audiences across the USA, Canada, Germany, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, UK, Austria, Italy, Holland, Madagascar, and Bangladesh. He was honored by the Government of India to lead a cultural delegation to African countries during the Golden Jubilee celebrations of India's Independence. He is married to Esha Bandyopadhyay, a Hindustani classical vocalist.
