
P.V. Anilkumar is a Carnatic mridangam artist from the village of Purameri near Vadakara in Kerala. An All India Radio graded artist based in Kozhikode, he has built a distinguished career as a percussionist and accompanist in the Carnatic tradition. He is well known as the father and first guru of Sooryagayathri, the young Carnatic vocal prodigy who has gained international recognition. Anilkumar regularly accompanies his daughter on mridangam during her concerts, and has been instrumental in nurturing her musical development from a young age. His wife P.K. Divya is a poet. Beyond his own performing career, Anilkumar has contributed to Carnatic music pedagogy, co-practicing mridangam with his daughter and supporting her training under senior vocalists.
