
Neyveli R. Narayanan is a distinguished Carnatic mridangam artist hailing from a family of music connoisseurs in Neyveli. Initiated into the art of mridangam at the young age of seven under Sri S.K. Ganesa Pillai, he made his debut at age eleven. His intensive training under the maestro Thanjavur Sri Upendran brought professionalism and mastery of the Thanjavur style of mridangam playing. He is a favored disciple of the mridangam legend Padma Bhushan Umayalpuram Sri K. Sivaraman. An All India Radio Grade A artiste, Narayanan has shared the stage with luminaries including Zakir Hussain, Ganesh-Kumaresh, T.V. Sankaranarayanan, T.N. Seshagopalan, M.S. Gopalakrishnan, Neyveli Santhanagopalan, and Smt. Sowmya. He has performed in leading sabhas across India and in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Germany, France, and the Middle East. He runs Nadhopasana Academy of Fine Arts, teaching mridangam to students internationally.
