Biography

Kumar Gandharva (1924–1992), born Shivaputra Siddharamayya Komkalimath, was a legendary Hindustani vocalist known for transcending gharana conventions. A disciple of B.R. Deodhar, he overcame tuberculosis to develop a distinctive style blending raga innovation with the folk music of Madhya Pradesh.
