Biography
Pandit Kishan Maharaj (1923–2008) was an Indian tabla player of the Benares gharana, celebrated for his mastery of complex cross-rhythms and ability to accompany diverse genres. He received the Padma Shri (1973) and Padma Vibhushan (2002) for his contributions to Indian classical music.
