Biography

Kelucharan Mohapatra (1926–2004) was a legendary Odissi dance guru and exponent credited with the revival of the classical dance form in the 20th century. Born in Raghurajpur, Odisha, he trained under Mohan Sundar Goswami and taught luminaries including Sanjukta Panigrahi, Sonal Mansingh, and Madhavi Mudgal. He received the Padma Vibhushan in 2000.
