Kalyanapuram S. Aravind

Kalyanapuram S. Aravind is a Carnatic vocalist and an A-graded artist of All India Radio, and a former software engineer who left the profession to pursue music full time. He comes from the Kalyanapuram family, whose vedic and musical heritage spans generations and includes the renowned Harikatha exponent Kalyanapuram Sri U.Ve. Aravamudhachariar, his uncle — a lineage that informs his practice of explaining the context and meaning of the compositions he performs. He began studying music at the age of four under Sangeetha Kalanidhi Padma Bhushan Madurai Sri T.N. Seshagopalan, and was rendering krithis of Saint Thyagaraja by his sixth year. He is known for the depth of his raga alapana, crisp kalpanaswaras and his rendering of kritis.
