Hindole Majumdar

Hindole Majumdar is a tabla artist from Kolkata who began learning tabla at age 5, inspired by his maternal grandfather Sri Chittaranjan Roy and his mother Sunanda Majumdar, a Kathak dancer. He received his first formal training from Shri Shibshankar Karmakar (disciple of Ustad Karamatullah Khan of the Farrukhabad Gharana) and continues advanced training under Pandit Sankha Chatterjee. A graded artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan, he has won numerous awards including first prizes at All Bengal tabla solo competitions and founded the Hindole Majumdar School of Music and Dance in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
