Biography

Giri Subramaniam is a tabla player and percussionist recognized for his versatility, captivating tone, and ability to blend styles across genres. He trained formally in tabla under Muthu Kumar, a disciple of Ustad Alla Rakha and Ustad Zakir Hussain, and learned Carnatic vocal music from his mother. He performs tabla and percussion with the Grammy-nominated Berklee Indian Ensemble and has shared the stage with artists including Zakir Hussain, Shankar Mahadevan, and Shreya Ghoshal, collaborating across Indian classical, jazz, flamenco, Western classical, and metal.
