Born in 1986 into a family of musicians, Deepsankar Bhattacharjee began his sitar training under his father, Pandit Hara Shankar Bhattacharya, and later studied directly under Padmabhushan Ustad Abdul Halim Jaffer Khan. His artistry is distinguished by the Jafferkhani Baaj's defining features — lahak (echo effect), chapka anga (multiple notes in a single stroke), and advanced tantrakari techniques. He has received the Sur-Moni title, gold medals from the Baba Harballav Music Competition, and the Ravi Kopikar Memorial Award. As founder of Madhyami, he ensures the continued vitality of the Jafferkhani legacy through teaching.
