Debapriya Adhikary is a Hindustani classical vocalist, described as one of India's finest of the younger generation, and an A-grade artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan. He received his earliest training from his mother, Smt. Anita Adhikary, and holds a Master's degree in Music from the University of Calcutta. He trained for thirteen years under Pandit Samaresh Chawdhury, and also studied with Pandit Kumar Prasad Mukherjee, Vijay Kichlu and Padma Vibhushan Vidushi Girija Devi — a training that draws on the Senia, Agra-Atrauli and Benares traditions rather than a single gharana. He is best known for his jugalbandi with the sitarist Samanwaya Sarkar, an unusual pairing of voice and sitar. He is a recipient of the President's Award, and the film "Girija — A Lifetime in Music", with which he was involved, won a National Film Award.
