Balachandra Prabhu

Balachandra Prabhu is a Hindustani classical vocalist of the Kirana gharana, based in Bangalore, India. Born into a family of musicians, he was introduced to music at an early age by his father, Shri M. Devadas Prabhu. He received advanced training under Pandit Balachandra Nakod and later Pandit Jayateerth Mevundi, and subsequently trained for several years under the revered Late Pandit Shreepathi Padigar of Hubli, a senior disciple of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and a leading exponent of the Kirana gharana. Recognized as a true representative of the Kirana tradition, he has performed across India and internationally, including in the USA, Australia, the UK, Dubai, Muscat, and Kuwait. Beyond classical music, he is drawn to devotional music and is active as a composer, playback singer, and music producer. He holds a postgraduate degree in Management (Finance) from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum.
