Ashok Huggannavar

Dr. Ashok Huggannavar is a Hindustani classical vocalist from Honnavar, Karnataka. Born into a family of musicians, he received training from his maternal uncle Pandit Lingaraj Bua Yaraguppi, a disciple of Pandit Nilkanth Bua Mirajkar who studied alongside noted musicians Pandit Mallikarjun Mansur and Pandit Basavaraj Rajguru. Dr. Huggannavar holds an MA in Music with a gold medal from Karnataka University, Dharwad, an M.Sc. in Botany from the same university, and a PhD on the subject "Music around Kundagol" from Hampi University. He is a B-high grade artist of All India Radio and a regular performer on AIR and television. He currently serves as the Head of Department of Music at SDM College, Honnavar. Many of his disciples are national and international artists, and he has performed extensively across India and abroad.
