Asad Ali Khan was a distinguished Indian musician, renowned for his mastery of the rudra veena in the dhrupad style. Hailing from a long lineage of court musicians, he was a prominent exponent of the Beenkar gharana of Jaipur and the last surviving master of the Khandar school of dhrupad. He received several prestigious awards, including the Padma Bhushan in 2008, for his significant contributions to Indian classical music.
