Apoorva Krishna

Apoorva Krishna is an accomplished South Indian Classical violinist specializing in the Carnatic tradition. She was initiated into Carnatic music by the legendary Lalgudi Srimathi Brahmanandam (sister of Sri Lalgudi Jayaraman) and continued her training under Anuradha Sridhar, accumulating over 15 years of study in the Lalgudi school of violin. She holds the All India Radio A Grade and has received numerous honors including the Kalavanta Award from the Karnataka Fine Arts Council, the Naadbhed Sheik Chinna Moulana Yuva Puraskar, the Madras Music Academy's Best Accompanying Violinist Award, and the Dr. M.S. Subbulakshmi Fellowship. In 2017 she became the first Indian artist to receive the prestigious Young Artist Grant from the Tarisio Trust in London. She graduated with a Master's in Contemporary Performance from Berklee College of Music and was awarded a Post Master's Fellowship at Berklee Boston. Her debut album "Intuition" fuses Indian classical with Western harmonies and global styles, and her composition "Merging Parallels" received Honorable Mention at the 70th Annual BMI Student Composer Awards in 2022. She has performed alongside John McLaughlin, Ustad Zakir Hussain, and Shankar Mahadevan at prestigious venues worldwide.
