Anirudh Varma

Anirudh Varma is an Indian pianist, composer, and producer based in New Delhi, known for bridging Hindustani classical music with Western and contemporary styles. Born into a music-loving family, he began his musical journey at age six on his grandfather's harmonium. He was initiated into Hindustani music by his grandfather S.N. Varma and later groomed by Manas Majumdar, while training in Western classical piano under Hosie Palamkote, Ritesh Khokhar, and Lothunglo Mozhui. A Grade 8 pianist from the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music (London), he holds a Master's in Performance Studies from Ambedkar University, Delhi. In 2017, he founded the Anirudh Varma Collective, an ensemble of over 200 musicians from India, the US, and Canada, dedicated to presenting the tradition and diversity of Indian music in a contemporary yet rooted manner. The Collective has released three albums—Perspectives (2018), Homecoming (2022), and Sabr (2025)—and has staged more than 700 performances. Varma serves as associate faculty at the Global Music Institute (a Berklee College of Music partner) and One World College of Music.
