Ustad Ahmed Jan Thirakwa (1892 – 13 January 1976) was an Indian tabla player, widely regarded as the pre-eminent soloist of the 20th century and one of the most influential percussionists in Indian classical music. Known for his mastery of various tabla styles and finger techniques, he was a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1954 and the Padma Bhushan in 1970. His nickname 'Thirakwa' (shimmering) was given to him for his fast and clear finger work.
