Biography
Ustad Ahmed Jan Thirakwa (1892–1976) was an Indian tabla player widely regarded as the pre-eminent soloist of the 20th century. A master of four gharanas — Delhi, Farrukhabad, Ajrada, and Lucknow — he received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1954 and Padma Bhushan in 1970.
