Aditya Phatak

Aditya Phatak is a Hindustani tabla player and vocalist based in New York City. A child prodigy who began playing at the age of two, he was initially inspired by his grandfather Deepak Phatak and guided by his uncle Shivraj Phatak. For over fifteen years he has studied tabla under the renowned Pandit Samir Chatterjee at the Chhandayan Center for Indian Music. Aditya has performed at Carnegie Hall, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Woodstock Drum Boogie Festival, and the Brooklyn Raga Massive "Ragas Live" festival. His tabla was featured in the Grammy-nominated song "Abundance in Millets," commissioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and written by Indian-American singer-songwriters Falu and Gaurav Shah. Alongside tabla, he studies Hindustani vocal music under Smt. Rucha Jambhekar and Shri Kiran Lele, and is also an accomplished jazz drummer. He is a senior at Columbia University studying Applied Mathematics and Computer Science.
