Abhishek Mukherjee

Abhishek Mukherjee is a Hindustani classical sitar player based in Utah who has studied the instrument for over 30 years. Born in Varanasi, India's cultural capital, he was introduced to the sitar at an early age and received a prestigious Government of India scholarship to pursue his studies. He trained under Pandit Kushal Das, a leading master of the Maihar tradition and internationally acclaimed sitar virtuoso. Abhishek performs regularly in the Salt Lake Valley area and teaches sitar to students in Utah. He is a member of the Hindustani Classical Ensemble alongside Wade Evans (sitar) and Debanjan Bhattacharya (tabla), and has performed at the Nitya Nritya Festival and events at the Salt Lake City Public Library.
