Abha Roy is a Kathak dancer and educator who has dedicated over 30 years to spreading the art of classical North Indian dance. Born in Udaipur, Rajasthan, she began learning Kathak at age four or five and was later accepted into the National Institute of Kathak in New Delhi, where she trained under the late Guru Kundan Lal Gangani and later attained professional precision under Pt. Durgalal at Kathak Kendra. Since 1992, she has been based in New York City, where she founded Srijan Dance Center — one of the leading Indian dance institutions in the tri-state area — and serves as artistic director of Flushing Town Hall's annual Diwali Festival. She has performed at Lincoln Center, Queens Museum, and at venues across Guyana, Suriname, Tobago, Canada, Russia, and Europe as a representative of the Indian Council of Cultural Relations.
