Ranjani Balasubrahmanyam

Ranjani Balasubrahmanyam, one half of the celebrated Ranjani-Gayatri sister duo, is among the foremost Carnatic vocalists of her generation. Born into a Tamil Brahmin family deeply rooted in classical music, she began training under her mother Smt. Meenakshi Balasubramanian and received violin instruction from Sri T.S. Krishnaswami before coming under the guidance of vocal guru Sri P.S. Narayanaswamy. Over nearly four decades of performance, Ranjani and Gayatri have become known for their impeccable coordination, depth of raga exploration, and command of a repertoire spanning Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam, and Marathi. She is a recipient of the Padma Shri (2026), the Kalaimamani Award, and the Samagana Mathanga National Award, and has toured extensively across Australia, Europe, North America, and Asia.
